How the dynamic Podcast page works in the Website Builder

This article covers the Website Builder, which is continuously evolving based on customer feedback. Some details seen here may differ from what you see in-app.

This article features the dynamic podcast page populated with data from your podcast hosted on beehiiv. Looking for how to embed an externally hosted podcast feed on your beehiiv website? Read How to feature a podcast feed on your site for more detail.

The beehiiv Website Builder includes podcast-specific tools that let you build a complete listening experience directly on your site. This article covers the Podcast page, a dynamic page that automatically generates a landing page for each episode you publish on beehiiv, and the podcast blocks you can use to customize how episode content is displayed.

For information on creating and managing podcast shows and episodes, see Creating a podcast on beehiiv.

How podcast content flows through the Website Builder

Before diving into each piece, here is how they connect:

Podcast page

The Podcast page is the dynamic page on your site where individual episodes are displayed. Each episode you publish automatically gets its own URL on your site.

If you are hosting your podcast via beehiiv, you have more granular control over the look and feel of this page, and instructions to edit it are included in this article. If you are featuring an externally hosted podcast feed on your beehiiv website, your automatically-generated podcast episode page will inherit your global theme settings.

Podcast page blocks

Podcast page blocks are the content blocks that live on the Podcast page and control how episode data is displayed. You can add, remove, and rearrange them to match your layout. These blocks are only available on the Podcast page and cannot be added to other pages.

Podcast feed blocks

Podcast feed blocks can be used on any page of your website to display a feed of your most recent content. When you create a podcast block, you’ll be asked to decide between the content you wish to add to the block: Your beehiiv-hosted podcast feed, or an externally hosted podcast feed via RSS.

The Podcast page

The Podcast page is a dynamic page in the Website Builder. Once it is set up, every episode you publish automatically generates its own page using the same template with no manual page creation needed.

How to access the Podcast page

  1. From the left panel, go to Website > Builder.

  2. In the left icons menu, click the Pages icon, then under Dynamic Pages, select Podcast.

If the Podcast page is not listed, click + Add page under Dynamic pages to add it. The pages included on your site depend on the choices you made during Website Builder onboarding.

Content elements on the Podcast page

The Podcast page is built from individual content elements, each linked to a specific piece of episode data. When a listener visits an episode URL, these elements automatically fill in with that episode's information.

The table below shows all available content elements and what each one displays:

Content element What it shows
Episode title The episode's title
Episode description The episode's description
Episode artwork The episode's cover art (or show art if no episode-level art is set)
Publish date The date the episode was published
Episode duration The total length of the episode
Audio player An embedded audio player for listening directly on the page
Show notes The episode's show notes in rich text
Episode page button A button linking to the episode's own page
Show name The name of the podcast show
Show artwork The show's cover art
Apple Podcasts link A link to the show on Apple Podcasts
Spotify link A link to the show on Spotify
YouTube link A link to the show on YouTube

Three elements are required for the page to display correctly: Episode artwork, Episode title, and Audio player. If any of these are missing, the builder will prompt you to add them.

How to customize the Podcast page

From the Podcast page canvas, you can:

  • Add, remove, or reorder content elements using the insert panel or the Layers panel.
  • Adjust spacing, typography, colors, and layout in the right design panel.
  • Add additional sections or blocks around the episode content, such as a header, footer, or related episodes section.

All episodes share the same Podcast page template. You cannot set a unique layout or design per individual episode.

Podcast blocks specific to the Podcast page

The insert panel includes three podcast-specific blocks you can add to the Podcast page. These blocks are added to your page layout by default, but can be removed and re-added. The option to add the blocks specific to the podcast page is only visible when inserting a block on the Podcast page, under Podcast episode blocks.

Audio Player

The Audio Player block embeds a playable audio player directly on the page. When placed on the Podcast page, it automatically links to the current episode's audio file and displays a "Linked to podcast episode data" badge in the editor.

Only one Audio Player block is allowed per page. The Audio Player block is required for your Podcast page to display correctly. If you remove this block, you’ll be prompted to add it back to your page.

Platforms

The Platforms block displays links to the listening platforms your podcast is distributed on, such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube. Button style and appearance are customizable in the design panel.

Platform links are pulled from the distribution settings in your Podcasts dashboard. Only one Platforms block is allowed per page, but you can remove it if you wish.

Transcript

The Transcript block displays the auto-generated episode transcript with interactive timestamps, so listeners can skim, search, and jump to specific moments. You can configure colors, font sizes, and active-line highlighting in the design panel.

Transcripts are generated automatically after an episode is published and typically appear within a few minutes. The transcript block is added to your page by default, but you can remove it if you wish. For more on transcripts and how to enable them, see Creating a podcast on beehiiv.

Frequently asked questions about the dynamic Podcast page and blocks

Do I need to do anything each time I publish a new episode?

No. Once the Podcast page is set up in the Website Builder, every new episode you publish automatically gets its own page using that template.

Where do I set up platform links like Spotify and Apple Podcasts?

Platform links come from your Podcasts dashboard under the Distribution tab. Connect your platforms there, and the Platforms block on your episode page will reflect those links automatically. For setup instructions, see Creating a podcast on beehiiv.

Can I add podcast blocks to pages other than the Podcast page?

Podcast feed blocks can be added to any page on your website to display either a beehiiv hosted or externally hosted podcast. The podcast blocks that are exclusive to your Podcast page (Audio player block, Platforms block, and Transcript block) can only be used on your Podcast page and will not appear as an option to insert on any other page.

Can I show a list of all my episodes somewhere on my site?

Yes. Use the Podcast feed block to display a browsable feed of your episodes on any page including your homepage.

What happens if I have not uploaded artwork for a specific episode?

The episode artwork element falls back to your show's cover art when no episode-level artwork has been set.

Why is a transcript not showing on my episode page?

Make sure 2 things are in place: the Transcript block is added to your Podcast page in the Website Builder, and Show transcript and captions was toggled on when creating the episode. Transcripts are generated after publishing and typically appear within a few minutes.
