Using comments for collaboration in the post editor

We’ve made it easy to collaborate with other team members of your publications by using comments in the post editor.

How to add comments to a post

  1. You can either select to edit one of your saved posts, or click on the Start Writing button to enter the post editor.

  2. To add a comment, highlight the words or section where you’d like to add a comment and the text editor will appear just above, click on the comment icon.

  4. You can also tag your team members in your comment, by typing the @ sign, then select the person(s) from your list of available options.

You can only tag people in comments who are already confirmed as your team members for the publication.

  5. After making your comment, be sure to click on the arrow in the message box to send it. Any team members that were tagged in the comments will receive a notification in their beehiiv account.

By default, you will be notified of all comments, mentions, thread replies, and thread resolutions. You can adjust your notification settings here.

How to reply to comments in a post

  1. Whenever you're tagged in a comment, a notification will appear in the top navbar the next time you log into your account and select that publication from your dashboard (unless you’ve disabled notifications, as mentioned in the Pro Tip above).

The notification icon will display the number of pending comments. Click the icon to view which posts the comments were made on.

  2. When you click on the notification, the post with the comment will open, and the comment section will automatically be displayed. To respond, click on the comment, type your reply, and then click the black arrow to submit it.

  3. If the person you replied to has notifications enabled for Editor Comments, they will receive a notification. Otherwise, they will see all comments the next time they open the post to edit and can respond as needed.
