Using tracking pixels from your social and Google accounts with your beehiiv publication is a great way to understand how your subscribers interact with your content, providing you with intel that you can then use to better target your messaging and hone your strategies.
What are tracking pixels?
Tracking pixels, also known as web beacons or pixel tags, are small, invisible graphic files embedded within emails or web pages. These pixels are typically used to track user engagement and behavior for things like email opens, link clicks, and conversions.
When a recipient opens an email or visits a web page containing a tracking pixel, the pixel sends a request to the sender's server, providing information such as the time, date, and recipient's IP address.
How to set up tracking pixels in your account
In your beehiiv account, you can add tracking pixels for Meta (Facebook), X (Twitter), TikTok, Google Analytics (GA4), GoogleTag Manager, and Google Search Console (GSC).
In order to add a tracking pixel to your account, you’ll first need to refer to each respective app to retrieve the Pixel ID (or verification code for GSC) to be used. When you have it ready, follow the steps below.
- From the left hand panel in your account, go to Design > Website Builder.
-
The Website Builder will open on the Styles tab, but you’ll need to switch to the Settings tab. Then, click on Pixels.
-
In the Pixels panel you can add tracking pixels for Meta (Facebook), X (Twitter), TikTok, Google Analytics (GA4), GoogleTag Manager, and Google Search Console (Verification Code).
-
After you add one or more tracking pixels, they will be saved automatically and you’ll see a quick success message for each that says Saved at the top of your screen.
